Dental emergencies we treat

What counts as a dental emergency.

Emergency Dentist in Manchester Township, NJ

Severe tooth pain

Pain that's keeping you up at night or getting worse needs to be seen. It usually means something is going on beneath the surface that won't resolve on its own.

Broken or chipped tooth

A broken tooth should be treated promptly, especially if there's pain or sharp edges. We'll assess the damage and figure out the best way to restore it.

Lost crown or filling

When a crown or filling comes out, the tooth underneath is exposed and vulnerable. Call us and we'll get you in to have it re-cemented or replaced.

Knocked-out tooth

Time matters. If a permanent tooth gets knocked out, handle it by the crown, not the root, rinse it gently, and call us immediately. In some cases, the tooth can be saved if we act quickly.

Dental abscess or infection

A dental infection is serious and can spread if left untreated. Signs include severe pain, swelling, fever, or a pimple-like bump on the gums. Don't wait on this one.

Common questions about dental emergencies

What people ask us.

Do I need to be an existing patient to be seen for an emergency?

No. We see new patients for emergencies. Just call us at (732) 350-7700 and let us know what's happening.

What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out?

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently with water. If possible, place it back in the socket or keep it in a glass of milk. Call us immediately. Time is critical.

What if I'm in pain over the weekend?

Call our number and follow the instructions for after-hours emergencies. We'll do our best to help you manage until we can see you.

How do I know if I have a dental infection?

Signs include throbbing pain, swelling in the face or jaw, a bad taste in your mouth, or a visible bump on your gums. If you have any of these, call us right away. Dental infections can become serious.

Will emergency dental care be expensive?

The cost depends on what needs to be done. We'll explain what's involved and give you a clear picture of the cost before we start. Most insurance plans cover emergency treatment at least partially.
