How long does the implant process take?
From placement to final crown, typically several months. Most of that time is waiting for the implant to integrate with the bone. The actual appointments are shorter than people expect.
Does getting an implant hurt?
The area is numbed for the placement procedure. There's usually some soreness for a few days afterward, similar to having a tooth removed. Most patients manage it with over-the-counter pain relief.
How long do implants last?
With good oral hygiene, dental implants can last 20 years or more. The crown on top may eventually need to be replaced, but the implant itself is designed to be permanent.
What if I've already lost some bone?
Depending on how much bone is present, a bone graft may be needed before placing the implant. Dr. Terry will assess this at your consultation and explain what's involved.
